Bio fuel, Scottish Borders
As part of Roxburghe Estates, Floors Forestry is in a unique position of being able to supply woodchips and logs that are sourced solely from timber grown on the Estate.
We have a long standing interest in biomass fuels; in 2008 we installed a 720Kw biomass boiler to heat Floors Castle and Gardens and started to convert our small roundwood timber, previously sent long distance by lorry to chipboard factories, into woodchips for our own use. Today we have expanded this operation and now sell woodchips and logs to local customers out with the Estate.
Roxburghe Estate covers 22,800 hectares and includes 1350 hectares of woodland. The multi-purpose woodlands form an important part of the Estate providing timber, amenity and recreation, shelter, sporting, landscape enhancement and diverse woodland habitats and corridors.
The woodlands are carefully managed under a Long Term Forest Plan approved by the Forestry Commission. This allows us to comply very easily with RHI regulations set out in DECC’s Timber Standard for Heat and Electricity as we know that all our timber is “legal and sustainable”.
Timber harvesting on the Estate is carried out by contractors using state of the art harvesting machinery. Fuelwood which is turned into woodchips is derived from both thinnings and clearfelling operations. Timber is air dried at roadside for 12 months before being transported to our site at Bowmont Forest and converted into woodchips.

Fencing, Scottish Borders
We also offer a one stop shop for fencing timber and materials for the agricultural and domestic markets. We hold an extensive stock of timber posts, rails and battens and also wire, rabbit nets, staples, galvanised nails, wooden and metal gates.
